In selecting the right size cupola for a building, a good rule of thumb is 1 inch of cupola base for every foot of unbroken roof line. The key is the unbroken roof line measurement. For example: if a roof section measures 20 feet, the minimum cupola should be 30". If the cupola is too small, it will look like a birdhouse. Conversely, if it is too large, it will seem to overpower your home. |

A quick and easy way to visualize what is best for you is to position a cardboard box of similar size to the recommended cupola on your roof and then view it from the ground. We suggest walking around the house and viewing it from various angles. |
| Your Roof Line | Cupolas Size |
| 10 to 14 feet | 18 inches |
| 15 to 18 feet | 22 inches |
| 19 to 21 feet | 26 inches |
| 22 to 25 feet | 30 inches |
| 26 to 29 feet | 36 inches |
| 30 to 34 feet | 42 inches |
| 35 to 38 feet | 48 inches |
| 39 to 43 feet | 54 inches |
| 44 to 50 feet | 60 inches |

Our cupolas are designed for a roof pitch up to 10" rise per foot - most roofs are not steeper than this. If, however your pitch is steeper than 10" rise per foot, you will have to add an extension base in your order. It is important that you order this extension base (if needed) at the same time as ordering cupola. Contact us for ordering base. |
