Definitions and Instructions for Cuckoo Clocks

Cuckoo clocks can be divided into two case styles:
Cottage style, shaped like a house or cottage, and carved-case characterized by bird, foliage or animal carving on the face frame and crown.

Different types of cuckoo clocks are listed below. Our store lists them in similar categories.

Eight Day	Two large weights drive time, cuckoo and/or dancers. Eight day clocks should be wound weekly.
Eight Day Musical	Three large weights drive time, cuckoo and/or dancers. Eight day clocks should be wound weekly.
One Day	Two small weights drive the time and cuckoo. One day clocks need to be rewound daily - suggestion - hang them near the coffee pot or other daily activity.
One Day Musical	Three small weights drive time, cuckoo and music and/or dancers. One day clocks need to be rewound daily - suggestion - hang them near a daily activity.
Quartz	Quartz cuckoos are battery powered. They electronically cuckoo the number of hours at the top of the hour with a background of stream and forest sounds and echoes.
Novelty	Novelty clocks are small mechanical or battery driven clocks, or other items we can't squeeze into the other categories.

Hang the cuckoo clocks on the wall so the bottom of the case is about 6 1/2feet from the floor. The weight run-out for a one day is about 6 feet each day, and the run-out for the eight day clocks is 6 feet each week. The time can be regulated by sliding the pendulum bob up the pendulum stick to make the clock run faster or down the stick to slow it down. All clocks except the 11-09 models have a night shut-off mechanism for music and cuckoo.

The one day musicals have 22-note music boxes that play two tunes alternately. The eight day musicals have either 28 or 36-note music boxes that play two tunes alternately. 95% of the time the two tunes are Edelweis and The Happy Wanderer. The beer-drinker tunes are Drink, Drink, Little Brother, Drink and In Munich There's a Beer Hall. The limited edition pieces have 72-note music boxes.
